Washington Nationals vs Cleveland Guardians (3:10pm)

 After yesterday’s high-scoring 12-run explosion, the market may be tempted to chase the Over expecting more offense. That creates strong value on the under 7.5 tonight! This is a classic “good pitching beats good hitting” spot. Cantillo and Cavalli should keep the game tight in the 2-1, 3-2, or 4-3 range through six or seven innings, with both strong bullpens ready to finish it out cleanly.

Joey Cantillo comes in at 4-1 with a sparkling 3.05 ERA and 1.32 WHIP over 56 innings. He’s won three straight decisions allowing one run or fewer in three of his last four starts. In his most recent outing against Detroit, he threw 5 scoreless innings with six strikeouts. Cantillo limits hard contact and has kept the ball in the yard (just six homers allowed all year).

Cade Cavalli counters with a 2-3 record, but he’s been far better than that suggests posting a solid 3.86 ERA and 1.43 WHIP across 53 innings. He’s striking out more than a batter per inning (61 Ks) and has been extremely stingy with the long ball, allowing just three homers all season. Cavalli has also been lights-out, holding opponents scoreless in the first inning across his last eight straight starts.

The Guardians’ offense has been searching for answers lately. They were shut down badly on Monday and enter this game needing to find some consistency. The Nationals lead the league in runs scored, but that power display Monday looks more like a one-off explosion than a sustainable trend against quality pitching. Washington’s lineup can be streaky, and they’re now on the road in a park that plays to the pitchers’ advantage. The combination of his low home-run rate and Cleveland’s current offensive slump tilts this one lower.

Progressive Field has never been a launchpad, and 2026 is no different. The deep center-field fences and solid outfield dimensions suppress extra-base hits and homers. Projected weather will be in the mid-60s temperatures with light winds and you have conditions that favor pitchers over hitters. My models have this game handicapped at 6.75 runs giving us value on the Under.
