Kazuma Okamoto broke out of an extended slump with a three-run homer, while Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Daulton Varsho both produced multi-hit performances. That comeback suggests Toronto’s lineup is seeing the ball well, even though they didn't secure the win.

Sonny Gray presents a difficult challenge for the Blue Jays, carrying a 12-1 record and a 2.48 ERA into the matchup. However, his record makes him appear more unbeatable than he actually is. Gray has only 90 strikeouts compared with Cease’s 155, meaning Toronto is more likely to put balls in play and create opportunities through sustained pressure. Several Blue Jays hitters also have previous experience against him, including George Springer, Andrés Giménez and Myles Straw.

Boston has won 16 of its last 17 games, but winning streaks do not guarantee success in an individual matchup. The deciding factor will be Cease. His recent form, strikeout dominance and ability to pitch deep give Toronto a path to quieting a red-hot Boston team. Look for the Blue Jays to generate a few timely extra-base hits, protect a narrow lead and earn a bounce-back victory at Fenway Park.
