The Philadelphia Eagles haven’t faced enough tough competition this season, only squaring off against four teams in the Top 12 of defensive DVOA. Plus, Vic Fangio’s defenses have never managed to beat Patrick Mahomes, holding an 0-8 record against him. Speaking of Mahomes, he’s 17-3 (85%) in the playoffs and has an impressive 28-9-1 (76%) record when his team is favored by 3 points or less or listed as an underdog.
This matchup will mark the fifth head coaching rematch in Super Bowl history, and historically, coaches who won the first meeting are 4-0 in subsequent matchups. There are numerous reasons to support the Chiefs and very few to back the Eagles. I predict Kansas City will win by 3-5 points.
