Oakland Athletics vs Kansas City Royals (5:15pm)
Although it was heartbreaking to rewatch yesterday's game against the Rays I saw many positives in that series that Oakland can use against the Royals. Besides the mis-handling of Daniel Mengden yesterday the Athletics pitched and played a great game overall. The Royals are horrible again this season and it's no secret that they won't be returning back to Championship form anytime soon. Kansas City is in fourth place in the American League and has only won 9 games out of 28 games at home. Frankie Montas looked sharp for Oakland in his season debut against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He retired his first 10 batters and took a no-hitter into the sixth inning in a 2-1 victory against the Diamondbacks. Ian Kennedy hasn't won since early April and will have cost his backers -3.85 units this season. He's 1-5 with a 5.15 ERA and 1.54 WHIP this season for the Kansas City Royals. Kennedy is coming off a no-decision against the Texas Rangers last week where he surrendered 2 runs on five hits in five innings of work. I like the A's today and it's because I believe they have the advantage in the pitching department and will score way more runs with Khris Davis back in the lineup. Montas is making his first career start for Oakland so there isn't too much info you can gather on this guy. Teams will be forced to make in game adjustments since they are not able to scheme against him. Oakland is 4-0 in their last four road games and 20-7 in their last 27 games against AL central foes.
Pick: Oakland Athletics ML (-125)
Best of luck!
