Texas Rangers vs Toronto Bluejays (4:10pm PST)
The Texas Rangers will seek revenge against the team that eliminated them out of last year's playoffs. AJ. Griffin will make his fifth start for the Texas Rangers, he's 3-0 with a 2.52 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP in over 25 innings of work. Griffin is 2-0 with a 2.66 ERA when he pitches against the Toronto Bluejays in Rogers Centre.
Toronto will have knuckleballer R.A Dickey on the mound as he makes his sixth start for the Bluejays! He is 1-3 with a 6.75 ERA and 1.65 WHIP over 26.2 innings of work this year. Dickey is coming off a horrible outing here he allowed six runs on eight hits to the White Sox.
I'm predicting this game to have a playoff type atmosphere where runs will be scarce. The Rangers will definitely show up tonight and I expect the Bluejays to also bring their best stuff. I wasn't able to find any key advantages for either team tonight. At first glance it looked like the Rangers would have a pitching advantage due to Dickey's high ERA but I can't bet on him pitching back to back duds at home this season.
Instead of betting a side for this matchup I'm going to wager on the total. The total opened up at 9 (-110) on both the over and under. The juice has recently moved to 9 (-120) on the over. While looking over the consensus I was able to confirm via SportsInsights that there are over 81% of the public betting the over tonight. I also noticed that there was some steam coming in around 4:00am PST on the Under. The juice quickly moved from 9.0U (-115) to (-130) in under an minute. I think the adjustment from the oddsmakers showed they were not too comfortable taking anymore action on the under. I'm going to follow the sharp money here tonight and look for a low scoring contest.
