San Francisco Giants vs Chicago Cubs (11:20am)

Ben Brown is having an exceptional season, sporting a 1.92 ERA and an impressive 0.93 WHIP over 51.2 innings. His pitching has been spectacular, particularly in May, where he allowed only 1.86 runs while striking out 31 batters in his last 29 innings. Landen Roupp has been struggling recently. He has a 5-6 record, a 4.22 ERA, and a 1.31 WHIP. However, he is a ground-ball pitcher who consistently keeps the ball in the park. In just 64 innings of work, he has allowed only three home runs. Despite losing in the last six games, I believe he will redeem himself after only lasting four innings in his last outing against the Brewers.
The Giants inconsistent offense is the primary reason behind their under .500 record this season. San Francisco ranks 17th in the league when it comes to runs scored, placing them near the middle of the pack. They have a 13-22 record on the road and have been consistently shut down by strong right-hand pitchers throughout the year. Yesterday’s crazy performance was against significantly weaker pitching, and it’s unlikely that they will replicate that again against an Ace like Brown.
Weather conditions at Wrigley will also play in our favor this morning. Wind blowing straight in at Wrigley. Forecast shows 7–9 mph winds directly from center field in with temps in the mid-70s. Wrigley’s wind-in conditions are notorious for keeping balls in the park and extra-base hits.
